A depression in the skull.
Many North American shetland ewes carry two horn genes, and many that I have examined have a bone knob on the poll area. Sometimes this knob can be felt, sometimes it is so small that it cannot be felt.
This ewe is a proven half-poll, and has no bone knb on her poll.
