| The Aa locus is "self colored". It describes a solid colored sheep that has no pattern other than solid allowing the base color to express. It is the most recessive allele at the A locus. The extension locus, however, can cause Aa to act dominant, and cover other patterns which can result result in some surprising lambs! All of the sheep pictured on this page lack patterns other than solid. |
